Food for thought

We had our first Thanksgiving meal on Saturday. It was a LARGE family  dinner, and therefore a lot of the meal was pot luck.  With 30 or more people, you can imagine the number of people bring something to the table. And while the meal was everything yummy , festive and good, my sleep that night was not.  Actually, I should clarify.  I slept OK, but I was aware of the MANY dreams I had that night. Im not one for remembering my dreams usually, but the next morning until I woke up, I was dreaming one dream after another. All kinds of dreams, good and bad and everything in between. I could even say (knowing myself) that some were even uncharacteristic. Then an interesting thought occurred to me....

What if we not only digest the food we eat on a physical level, but also on a spiritual or mental level via our dreams?
What if that spiritual level that we are digesting thru our dreams is directly infused into our food from the handler or maker of the food itself? Talk about connection!!

I know food that is prepared with love is easier to digest than food prepared in rush or absence of mind. I understand that. But the depth of that never really occurred to me until I connected that with my "full plate of dreams." Was I processing the ideas, intentions, and states of mind of the persons who made the dishes? And with so many people preparing was my active dream state an experience of sensory overload, the same way we would experience indigestion from too much food?

Breaking bread with some one has just become so much more intimate, and all the more reason to be AWARE while playing in the kitchen!
