Bird Sketch - the Cardinal
For Christmas this year I received a wonderful book of Birds and some fantastic fine tip markers which have inspired my latest bird sketches! I'm both in love and attached to my "birds" sketchbook, so much so that I've I've decided NOT to submit it to the Tour this time, but rather to keep it and SLOWLY finish it.
I was at the grocery store, in line at the check out when I noticed the woman behind me had a load of bird seed and fresh berries in her cart. I asked her, as a way to make conversation, if she liked birds. Obviously she did, but it broke the silence most stranges share. We dove into the most delightful chat about our little feathered friends. I told her how I liked to draw them and she shared that not only does she spend a small fortune feeding them, but she entrusted me with the details of her "relationships" with them. With the most beautiful smile and twinkly eyes she went on about their comings and goings, how she invited her blue jay to dine with her during the summer months, and how she misses him now. How she could call her birds, and they would come, how they would be there waiting for her upon return from work. She loved them. Beautiful, eh? I'm cyber declaring, that I too wish for a relationship with birds, beyond my paper and pencil!
