I'm sitting in the car waiting for my son to come out of school. If I time it right, like today and leave a few extra minutes early the little ones will fall asleep in the car. Brilliant plan! A little mini break for me. Peace and quite for 10 Whole minutes!
I remember people would say, in regards to mothering, make sure to put your needs first. Well, I totally disagreed with that with my precious first born, I admired those who did when I had my second and now with my third I have mastered the fine art of carving out little pockets of time all to myself. For nobody but me!! Like now. The sound of gentle rhythmic snoring lulling me into a happy, peaceful state, while I type and breathe deeply. And now the bell, then the kids running out. Game on!!
It is the pockets of time that allow me to continue on with the day. Five minutes of quiet coffee drinking, tow paragraphs of a book, or even that one row of knitting, seems to ground me again.
ReplyDeleteHere's to pockets of time, using it how we can.
