The Gift of Food

I had Started my own recipe Book, back in the L'ORgAnics days where I would write down all of my "successful" creations. So this book goes back 8 years and Today my husband found it behind the garden shed. Yikes. I had it out a couple of weeks ago to get out some pressed flowers that were given to me on my birthday by a friend. I wanted to use them in a picture frame with butterflies.  The book was wet and a bit dirty, but luckily most of the recipes were unharmed.  phewww!  Anyway, I have a habit of starting off a new book, or journal with a poem or little piece, and this recipe book was no exception. I had written it with purple marker and so because of the water, it was really the only thing that had ruined. But I could still read it if I slanted it just right in the kitchen window. And so hear, preserved forever is "the little piece" that started it all.....

Imagine eating a perfectly ripe mango with out a knife.
Peeling back the fragrant skin with your teeth and
hungry hands, exposing the vibrant, tender flesh.
Salivating, you devour every last bit down to the dry,
bare core with swollen lips, teeth and tongue.
Juices running down your chin, fingers, wrist and arms.
Feeling so alive, almost electric.
Still wanting more.

Never deprive yourself of the of the pleasure of food! It is a gift.
