As a foodie, I strictly abide by the rule "never leave home with out HEALTHY HAPPY SNACKS, oh and water of course."
I can remember being about age 10 or so, in the car with my Brother and Mom, just passing the forest I adore to this day (which meant we were still really close to home) and feeling this horrible sensation of hunger in my stomach. I really don't remember where we were going or how soon after MY STARVATION we ate, but I do know that pretty well since then, I never leave home with out a snack. For me and my kids alike, hunger equals horrible moods, and irrationality. Some thing I can easily prevent!
I used to always pack whole fruit like apples and nuts and such until one day while driving I popped a handful of almonds in my mouth and I suppose they went down the wrong way because I started choking! I drank all the water in the car, but was still choking. I looked down to see a Halls cough drop, (they are my slight addiction) quickly ate it and my throat was clear and I stopped choking. That is the true story of how halls saved my life and why I now rarely pack whole, raw nuts for a car snack. So Granola bars and muffins replaced the nuts until I found this shasha raw buckwheat snack in one of my local grocery stores. The kids and I love the ShaSha heart shaped ginger snaps, and their spelt breadcrumbs, so I thought Id give it a whirl! They tested kid and mom approved. And they are peanut free. You can check out the ingredients bellow...
| Look how cute and small. No choking and perfect for little fingers! |
Thanks Mrs. Meesh for showing me my spelling mistakes! I wish spelling came natural for me....
