Merry Christmas

It is the morning of Christmas eve and my kids are still asleep. It's just past 8am and still dark and very foggy out. The little snow that we do have is melting and it is set to rain today. But inside the coffee is hot, the tree is on, and in in this rare stillness all is perfect! In 24 hours christmas chaos will be in full swing and I can't wait!! I'd like to savour today as much as possible because in a flash it will all be over. Months, it seems we spend preparing for this one day and this year it had been fun and magical and most importantly, meaningful.

The vintage Christmas and winter folk tunes from 8 tracks have been playing non stop, Hearty, wintery meals on the table, a perfect Christmas tree that took 5 mins to pick and only $20 to buy, candles burning, hot apple cider and cocoa, homemade baileys, ginger cookies,  old pictures of Christmas past, a solstice bon fire, cozy clothes and socks,  family and friends, and even the kids with all their fighting seems dear this year! Christmas movies on Netfix, clementines, candy canes, flour less chocolate torte, and bedtime stories( a porcupine in a pine tree). Flannel sheets and shirts and plaid everywhere!

Today, with my son I'll make shortbread cookies just as I used to with my brother and grandma in her tiny avocado green kitchen, a tradition worth keeping. They really are the best part of winter fare!

                                                              Merry Christmas!

enjoy your holidays and traditions!
